The theme in question is this: http://themeforest.net/item/elicit-xhtml-css-template/94733

Here the story:

It works locally, but when the customer uploads it to her host, this is what happens: http://www.seawindtours.com/elicitblue/

After several re-uploads, the issue is still there. Her host said everything is fine. The file permissions are set at 777. At first it looked like some of the file didn’t upload correctly, or at all. For example, this link gets a “page not found error” http://www.seawindtours.com/elicitblue/scripts/superfish-1.4.8/

Can anyone chime in on this and help out?

Have you tried to upload it for her or has she been uploading all the files?

also try loading the scripts externally see if it works, if it does then change the scripts folder name to something else script ect.. when you tri to load elicitblue/scripts it gives a error page so its def not set at 777

She has been uploading all of the files.

I have found out that the main two culprits are:
http://www.seawindtours.com/elicitblue/scripts/superfish-1.4.8/
http://www.seawindtours.com/elicitblue/scripts/easyslider1.7/

But the thing is that elicitblue/scripts gives an error, yes, but it is still able to access the css files.

try uploading the files yourself see what happens or have her try a different ftp program

It doesn’t work when they upload, huh? Most of the javascript and CSS files are missing! Tell them to actually upload all the files :-)

They’ve uploaded your scripts/css/ directory, but not the rest of the scripts directory….

(all broken links)

You’re getting all these javascript errors because you’re calling functions that don’t exist because they haven’t uploaded any of those JS files…

You always gotta check for these kinds of things. Trust me, think of the dumb answers first before you start questioning yourself and how you built the theme.

Update: issue has been fixed. All of the files were uploaded though, the host had issues with some of the characters in the folder names.

Thanks for the help everyone, this community is awesome!

I am a bit concerned with all these sort of errors for my own coming theme. I mean you need to be a techie to have an overview of all possible issues. I wish support was partly done by Envato for things not directly related to the theme itself.

To throw in my two cents :)

You should be somewhat of a techie if you’re selling premium themes, and at least have a knowledge of common errors and mistakes made in the field (such as incorrectly uploading CSS and JS files) ;)

We can’t provide support for individual items as that would be a unreasonable to expect us to learn the ins and out of every single file type on the marketplace and troubleshoot it for 500,000+ members most of whom are buyers. That’s why we have trained reviewers for each category that inspect the file thoroughly beforehand.

Also, just to note author support isn’t required, only highly advised :)

Helpful Information

  • Please read our community guidelines. Self promotion and discussion of piracy is not allowed.
  • Open a support ticket if you would like specific help with your account, deposits or purchases.
  • Item Support by authors is optional and may vary. Please see the Support tab on each item page.

Most of all, enjoy your time here. Thank you for being a valued Envato community member.
