The problem was they uploaded the full download to WordPress without first extracting the theme file.

If I had a nickel for every email I’ve gotten regarding this same thing ;)

Drew created a great article & screencast on this exact issue:

My favorite was a customer that asked a question, then minutes later sent a second email threatening to give my product a bad rating and trash it on the discussion area if I didn’t respond within the hour.

With the current system now… you have no way of fending off people like this… they could follow through with this threat and potentially hurt your rating/business and you wouldn’t even know it…

IF at least some type of feedback was required upon rating then other users could see if this buyer was an irrational lunatic or not…

I’ve said it before, look how Amazon does it… they require feedback if you want to rate an item…no matter if it’s a good rating or bad… and it’s worked successfully for years… it’s one of the first things I do when I think about purchasing a product from them… I look at the bad reviews first and see if a rational thinking person can explain a good reason for offering a poor rating… then I look at the good reviews and see what people like about it and then I’m able to make a sound decision…

If it was this same way here, it’s my belief it would improve sales for buyers… and legitimate lower star ratings would give Authors reasons why their item may be lacking so that they have the knowledge on how to improve upon it from a buyers perspective…

Guys, don’t forget you can flag inappropriate comments, I’ve done it a few times and works great :) My best dude so far was the one who told me to go f*ck myself, right in the comments. And he didn’t even bought that file… Some people are just lunatics, like LuckyKind have said.

you can flag them yes… but it doesn’t stop them from giving you 1 star and putting a blemish on your hard work because the guy has a hair across his arse…

EDIT : well… I guess it stops him because he didn’t purchase it, but you know what I mean… ;)

I read too fast… :(

I’ve never heard that phrasing before, “a hair across his arse…” and it really made me laugh!

(stress relieving exhale) It’s been a long month.

Hehe, you’re talking about stress, my friend? :) I just finished my first template and I uploaded it – it’s in the queue: now that’s stress – a long list of ‘what if … ? ‘

I’m in the same boat, I uploaded last night after a month of working on a new design. Oh yeah, and my wife might go into labor any minute with our first child. Stress isn’t even the right word for it at this point, I’m using the phrase, “perpetual panic state”.

have a couple drinks and say it like the Irish do… both are great stress relievers ;)

Um… better throw a couple shots in with those drinks… because what you thought was stress is nothing after that little sucker comes out…

Congrats! by the way…. :)
