I’m starting to be pretty fed up with all this crap. 4 of my files now are rated with 4. I WANNA KNOW WHY !!! It’s in the damn benefit of everybody, both authors and buyers, and therefore envato. Plus I don’t understand why would somebody rate a file that works perfectly with 4. What the hell is 5 for? A free hooker included in the download package? Would that make a buyer’s day? Because it seems that a file that works as stated in the description is not enough.

It seems that this is happening very sudden. All the time my file ratings were 5, and it’s been 2 months I think when my files ar droping their ratings.

PLEASEEEE ENVATO make a system that requests an explanation if the rating is below 5, we’ve got the right to know, plus I think it’s affecting our sales. We don’t have to have low ratings because we don’t work for free at buyer’s requests.

Thank you!

HAHAHAHA Sorry man, wish I could do something to help just for the gem you wrote which made me literally laugh out loud at 4 AM

I would give you a 5 rating right now if there was any way for me to do it!

Buy his file and rate it 5 star… that will work ;-)

Chris don’t mind about the rating, if you’re talking about your banner rotator, you’ve got 3 votes… so probably 2 4stars and 1 5stars… you would need one more 5stars to go back to the best rating… my banner rotator has been 4stars for some days, then it went up again… this can happen when there are few ratings…

You shouldn’t complain about the guys that voted 4 stars, that’s a good rating…. you should be mad with your happy customers that didn’t rate your file… you have 3 ratings with 35 sales… so, many of them forgot to rate or they just didn’t care about it… don’t be mad with the ones that took time to rate your file accordingly to their personal experience.

When I’ve got the 4 stars to my banner I asked the buyers to rate… that worked…

I have some bad rating from the past because I didn’t reply support request on time or they simply didn’t satisfy with the file since I didn’t help them finish the project

50 Tons Your work is 5 star rating!! As a buyer, if I give less that 5 stars, always commented on the project page why.

If you ask buyers to give feedback for less than 5 stars rating, you will eventually lose some sales. That’s what I think. May be wrong.

Keep the good work!

That’s what I’m saying, and it’s not fair AT ALL .

I have only been a member for about a month and I have only bought 7 items so far, but I can say I usually never look at ratings when buying a file. I First read the description then reading the comments. If there are problems and the author responds quickly (24-72 hours) then I see no problems. As for giving ratings. I do not rate a product as soon as I buy it. I have to use it and test it to make sure I give accurate rating. I agree that we should be able to give comments with a rating but it should be optional.

As an added note:

For the price we pay for files on the Envato network I would expect very limited support to non-existant however the support I have received has gone way beyond expensive scripts with dedicated support departments. I think all the Authors here are great (Atleast the ones I have tried so far :) ) .

In this case that isn’t fair at all… I don’t understand why a file can be rated 1 or 2 stars (I don’t remember what they mean, something like poor or crap) since flashden accepts only high quality files… these very low ratings are used only by fools to affect author sales and when we get these low ratings, especially at the beginning, then it’s very hard to go back on a good rating…

You’re my favorite buyer for saying that. Really, I really respect that. If you took the time to rate a file, you can take time to explain the rating, it’s only fair, +1111111111111111111 for that, too bad not everyone thinks like you.

Also, I don’t think I agree that if you’d make buyers explain a lower than 5 rating would result in losing sales. It could result in less ratings, but I really don’t think people will stop buying files because of that. And if they decide not to vote, so be it. I prefer less ratings, but real and fair ratings, than a milion ratings based on buyer made criterias, like “is the author gona work for free for me?” or “is the author gonna reply my email in less than 2 hours?”.
