Hello Marketplace’

This is a little off topic (And please if this not allowed remove this)

I’m genuinely not trying to spam with this thread but i would like to ask all you wonderful people out there if anyone outsources work.

I have been asked to create 11… yes 11 Asian dating sites.

I feel a little over my head and would love if anyone could help on how to get started with this immense project, I’m pretty well organized and know what i need to achieve in respect to the finished product, essentially a bare bones site styled 11 times (not a problem) The problem arises with member login and administration and also how each member can communicate i.e much like on the ever popular Facebook with live chat available for registered members. One of the main problems i need to over come is a system where a new (registered or unregistered member) pays subscription and edits their viewable content to other registered* members.

Please help.

If you can do this send me some mail sales@uberize.co.uk

I don’t have the experience or know how to be able to help you out, but I’d suggest starting with a good content management system. Joomla should work for your needs if the sites dont grow to be tremendous. I’ve seen some plug-ins for Joomla that support subscription based payments, and member accounts. There are even some pre-built systems for setting up social networks. I’m sure you could make a social network and just theme it to be a subscription based dating site.

Depends on what you would like to do. I think Joomla is not quite the right choice for a community page, sorry, it’s Joomla…

So you could do this on your own, using a framework like symfony or ruby or you check for some cms which are build to handle such sites and can handle mass of users etc. Joomla is quite not usable, speaking of load balancing the project, using different servers and stuff. As those 11 pages become a success ( an I guess this is what the customer is trying to do and I know a lot of chinese people who love using these sites) you really should check some basic material.

I did several community platforms using the symfony framework as it did fit for all my needs. Of course there are some special cms systems for dating sites out ther where you only need to build the templates and there you go. (Tipp hotscripts.com).

If you build it on your own you need all the user management, secure payment stuff, admin area for admins and writers and nice frontend features. It could be some big job if you do it from scratch of course. But the best advantage is, you can do with this platform whatever you want, no borders for features or technical issues.

On the other hand an out of the box system should give you a fast start, you might just have to live with only the features the system offers.

Wish you the best,

Hanniball

As a side note, I see this quite often. One client wanting to build 43 social networks all themed at the same subject as a means to be successful from carpet bombing the market with sites they own and operate.

If it were my client, I’d suggest to them that they have a higher chance at being successful if they build one network and put all of their focus into that.

There are ready made dating systems out there. Some of them are open source. That would be the best option in my opinion especially if you are lost for a starting point.

Check out osDate.

http://www.tufat.com/s_free_dating_system.htm

Its free and open source. I can’t say I have used it myself, but it can’t hurt to download and install to see if it suits your needs.

Otherwise go to hotscripts.com and search for ready made dating systems to see if any of those take your fancy.

Hope this helps.

I got involved with many dating sites back in the day, allowancedaddy, hermillionaire, collegehottest and so on, we used a program called able dating….

It was more of a bad way to waste money then anything though, the sites were closed a year later.

But the software we used was great, google able dating.

I’ve used able dating on a project too. It is really easy to use and flexible.
