Default hover effect on IOS

Is there a mthod that on ios devices ( which rely on click ) that hover effects appear as focussed ?

I am playing with some animated hover effects, but they dont operate on ios because they are initiated via hover.

So on ios I wondered if we could default to display the div effect in situ ( as if it was hovered ) does that make sense.
