Ok now we should not turn the whole story down to one man but rather stay on topic.
I think that bug reports SHOULD NOT be posted in item comments. Bug reports should be sent to author via email. Item comments are open to suggestions, general comments, concerns/questions, pointing out issues, etc. like Mark already said. The only thing that looked funny here was that those bad comments on Justin’s template were removed sooooo quick and we heard that others have tried to remove some from their items and are still waiting today.
personally I don’t see anything wrong with removing comments. your template page is your storefront. if you ran a business and someone came and put up a bunch of rude and damaging posters all over your building, you would take them down. they make you look bad.
its just that if it needs to be equal across the board. everyone should have the same options when dealing with an unruly commenter.

As with anything, it comes down to a case-by-case basis. I’ll check with my boss to see if we have an “official” policy on the subject.
