Hi Diego,
Overall, the reel is nice.
Making a successful reel is a bit of a dark art. Not sure I’m any kind of master, but here’s my advice for what it’s worth…
I’d second Baf about template files. Templates don’t really belong on a reel… people want to see bespoke work. If you must use one, then at least swap out the place holders.
I’d also say lose the border and the subtitle that says motion graphics / 3d animation. What does that add? The border just takes away screen real estate from what’s really important and the text states the obvious. For me, it also makes it feel a little bit downmarket.
There’s quite a bit of repetition of jobs that doesn’t add much to the first time we saw it. Obvious repetition of material that doesn’t bring anything new smacks of trying to stretch a small amount of material out. Employers will notice that straightaway. If you haven’t done so much stuff yet, then much better to shorten the reel. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with a 40 second reel.
Basically, trim everything that’s surplus to requirement. A potential employer will probably know in the first 15 seconds if they’re going to employ you or not, and if not, they won’t bother watching the rest….. i.e. open with a bang!
