We can all agree that the hay day for ThemeForest has come to past. Top authors are barely making the cut with a few sales, and the incoming authors has to struggle to produce a great product. Part of this, I think, is the raise in price for themes (especially WordPress).

When the prices were lower, more and more people were encouraged to purchase themes and test them out. Nowadays I feel as though people really need to be convinced to buy a theme, and it looks like that is becoming harder.

Sure, the author deserves more for their work, but would it be better to have a theme for $50 and only get 10 sales or a theme for $35 and make 200 sales? I see as less is more in this scenario.

Just a random thought, maybe the community can get engaged in.

There’s already a pretty active thread on the discussion here – http://themeforest.net/forums/thread/price-increase-a-few-months-later/78100
