Hello,

I’m just starting to create wordpress themes, and I’ve seen a lot of themes have a site builder, which I believe is an easy way to use shortcodes? Now I do not know how to create one and I’d like to know how important it is to have one in a theme and how can I create one if it is that important.

Please let me know about this and thank you very much.

As far as I know it is not a necessity but an enhancement.

If the theme you create has a high quality design and a sensible options panel, you should be fine. A drag and drop site builder may help you get more sales though.

You can always add it in later updates to the theme. :)

I don’t think so.

Found that 80% of my customers would simply recreate the demo anyhow, so I decided to build options to turn off/on “sections” – simplifying everything by using widgetized areas that were activated via those options.

Who knows, one day maybe it’ll be a “requirement” to be considered a “premium” theme on here – to get accepted. Really hope not though.

No, you don’t. In fact, I suspect there is a market specifically for well written themes that don’t have site builders.

Thank you very much, this cleared up my confusion. Think I’m going to release it without it and then consider adding it in a later update.
