Do we have to provide the code of flash component?

Actually component comes with property, method and event that is far enough to customize without the source. The thing is its not very straight forward to do so but if a component provides enough property, method and event then you can do nearly everything with it.

So, as an author, once you finish a nice new component do you simply delete your FLA and AS files? Since you claim the component “comes with property, method and event that is far enough to customize without the source” you really would not need them any more. :D

Then or (a) you bought the wrong component or (b) the component lacks of features.

exactly my point! At FlashDen this does not happen to me because source is included!

You can always inquire beforehand if the author does certain custom modifications or provides source code on request.

the nice thing about FD is I don’t have to beg the author for source or pay extra for mods I can do myself.

get over it and go on ;)

That will not make my point but all the component I have built so far I have never had to touch the code inside again, but its silly to delete source code since I may need it for other project

Anyway at FD as a customer you are ensured to get full source of component.

Yes, but in the end you may not find what you need anymore on FD but on other websites.

that is certainly correct and we own many components purchased from other places where we do not have the source code. But I can guarantee that we will ALWAYS check FD first before buying from more restrictive sources. As I mentioned before, even if a component is better with more features I’ll buy a lessor item that includes source because that way we can always change it to suit our purposes.

you have to do what you have to do! but remember there are quite a few buyers here with $$$ to spend!

hm, ok that’s a question of putting things on a scale. My goal tends to be to create items that make it hardly nessesary for users to edit source code. Such are my items. Tends to save customers a lot of time and in the cases that they do need editing I spend that time doing it for them. But if you prefer control over everything yourself with a sideeffect sacrifice of spending a little extra time yourself, that’s a choice of considering what’s important most to you.

yes, but so are there on other websites. And I give high importance to creating, maintaining and safekeeping originality as much as I can. So migrating some items to other websites might make me sleep a little better ;)

I think components on here are kind of wierd because components are sort of meant to be a tool in flash that can be used over and over again without having to do lots of work while items on here are only allowed for one project.

I however would not like to think that better more high end items are being left out due to having to give away all the goods.
