A thumbnail that attracts the attention might lead to a sale, that’s my theory.
I’ll be just another one saying Yes, it does increase sales. Or at least increases the potential of your item get more sales, because you’ll have more visits to your item page. Of course it all depends on the item itself. But for sure if the thumbnails grabs the visitor’s attention, that’s already a step forward.
I think that only “good” content can increase your sales
I like to have well designed thumbnails, and it is important that they fit with your item preview. I always remember a piece of jargon that a web designer once told me – “disconnect leads to fall-off which reduces revenue.”
