In extreme situations, we may also disable accounts.

90 sales in a month,,,then….120 sales in a day….proved false transactions, so sale reversals….still no account disable…

Could you please provide exact definition of extreme situations…so henceforth others could avoid those while playing such tactics, and enjoy benefits without ban.

They still appear on the popular page

Sad, because that was the only reason why they did it – to get in that list.

If envato doesn’t punish such behaviour with banned accounts, it gives the wrong impression.
I’m not sure if it’s easy to modify the popular list once it’s displayed.. Remember when all the files changed their prices? The popular list still had old prices. Don’t know how the system is done, but those items might be cached somewhere and only reviewed once a week when they change.

if they disable the item it also disappears from the popular list. We had that some weeks ago on videohive.

Some genuine authors have got knocked off those popular lists and thats the real shame.
And those fraudulent authors are still enjoying the exposure, getting more sales even though they already got punished.

Quite a joke if you ask me.

So the lesson learned from this story is: you can cheat – we will find out – we will remove those fraudulent sales – your fraudulent sales will count on the popular list – you keep the exposure!

Quite a joke indeed!

They will never ban him for this reason, as he is a elite author with 3000+ sales. Banning account means at least 500 angry customers (with view of wasting time on theme, which is quite right), as refund do not solves issues every time.

If it was some entry level author could have been banned same day.

Any items that made it on to the popular items page this way should have been automatically removed from that page when the sales were reversed. If you notice similar irregularities in the future, please let our support team know — this will ensure the issue gets dealt with asap.

Thanks!

@natman, An additional measure to reduce the impact of abused items would be worth – in favour of competitive items. For example, make those items disabled for 1 week so that those items have to earn the popularity from scratch. Explain this penalty on knowledge base.
