webTypo saidthe swiss franc was so far the most reliable currency, as far as I see it, thousands of foreign people from other countries and continents making bank accounts here, the CHF rarely changes it’s course drastically.. even some american rapper made a song called “swiss francs”, he’s clearly not proud of the us dollar right now
also, if they switch to swiss francs for example then you can still lose if the euro is strengthening against the swiss franc.![]()
That’s why i suggested Swiss Francs!
Just also wanted to point out that if it’s possible to lose no matter the currency used on envato.
"still lose if the euro is strengthening against the swiss franc."Marketplaces should display prices in currencies people prefer, and authors should receive commissions in currencies they prefer. Have you seen websites with dropdown saying “Display prices in EUR, U$D, Pound”? There should be conversion rates going on and Envato can make money on this also.

since it would look like a foreign/strange country is running this place. Seeing prices in euros or pounds would alienate most USA buyers.
It IS foreign country. Australia

Do not limit yourself by converting on a fixed day of the month each time. Set up a USD account and only convert on the fly when you spend (POS purchases with a card). This way you can get random conversion rates (random days of the the month), and you are not converting a larger amount of money on a probably bad day (this way you’d lose more). The US dollar remains US dollar and it may only lose value compared to other currencies. In itself, it’s just dollar.
+1. ATM the best advice
Yes ATM of course. Use a service like Payoneer or Paypal. If you make more money than you’d trust on these I guess you already figured it out how not to lose on the conversion rates.

Would love to see my items for € 25,- instead of $ 25,-. All global businesses like Apple do this. Compare the US site to the Austrian:
http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_mac/family/imac http://store.apple.com/at/browse/home/shop_mac/family/imacTransferred 6000$ of my earnings to my bank account, missed out on about 300$ if only I had done it a few weeks ago when the currency had a small peak. I was going to wait and see for a while, but I need the money soon so if the predictions are correct I’m hoping it was a good decision. But with my luck it will probably go up now, hah!.
It’s great! The fact that the dollar goes down could also mean that now sales will increase .
Plenty of people around Europe and other continents / countries can see this as a great opportunity to go out there and buy our items right now, the more the dollar decreases = the more tempting it is for other currencies to purchase.
There’s always a yin next to a yang

This is extremely misleading. These three countries decided to beg their currencies to the USD. If you look closely, from January 2008 to today, they have been fluctuating around 1 USD value. The decision was made to stabilize the exchange..
Otherwise, the USD is the currency running most the world, and also most of the Internet. Prices should be raised constantly to adjust for inflation on a yearly basis. I believe 2-3 bucks per $50 is good. Envato might want to put a policy or be more transparent about it.
