I enjoyed dubstep until everybody started obsessing about it, was way too annoyed at that moment, that’s when I started searching for dubstep that wasn’t a bunch of heavy drops with random samples and no true feel to it. edit: mainstream dubstep. I guess I’m the same for all music, mainstream doesn’t entertain me for long

Same with me, as soon as someone else likes something, I no longer like it. hahaha, not really.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have another hipster! :P

I wouldn’t consider myself hipster but I guess I have a somewhat similar interest as hipsters in the mainstream music ordeal :-)

Since when is liking a music genre for a certain amount of time – which obviously exceeds some kind of timeframe –┬ábeing a hipster?
Is being a hipster something negative then?

I’ve read somewhere that dubstep is about aliens having sex with an elephant. There are 3 main themes:

- elephant likes it;

- elephant is not happy;

- elephant is furious.

I liked the newest Korns’ album though :D

to compose “real” music takes huge amount of effort, learning, talent and understanding of harmony, disharmony, resonance, dissonance, etc. You don’t need to know all this to compose dubstep.

I am not sure if there is sarcasm in here, but if not then it is a huge insult to those talented artists who do create very good ‘real’ music within the genre of dubstep.

and p.s.

Hipsters don’t listen to dubstep anymore. I’d tell you what they do like but it’s so obscure you’d never have heard of it.

Well, It’s still a sought after music genre when it comes to library music. It’s often used in trailers and commercials. Did you guys see the HBO promo for Vikings? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-xiz-5cFOM

I make dubstep now and then but don’t release it commercially (as an artist) other than the use for library music. Just like other genres it will evolve. It has become popular and integrated with pop music.

I do enjoy the harsher stuff though. Like Hecq, Broken Note, Igorrr and such. They are more of a mixture between dubstep, industrial, cinematic, jazz, metal. You name it. Igorrr got it all in there.

Seems like hipsters are listening to old school R&B now. Like the stuff you would make fun of in the 90’s is cool now in retrospect or something. Typical dumb hipster thinking.
