Easy Ease vs Easy Ease In/Out?

I know this may sound really newbie but better ask for a simple explanation to the best AE people I know.

It all depends what you’re animating. I generally go into the graph editor and customize the eases anyway.

The most important thing is to look at the speed curves (or the value curves) in the graph editor and understand what is happening. Then it will become completely obvious to you when to use an ease/ease, when an ease in and when an ease out.

There may be a special Felt Tips tut on just this subject called “Super Smooth Curve”. You know where to find it.

“Eases” means that those keyframes provide a more natural progression between a sets of values, correct?

When you said that you adjust the values in the graph editor, are you adding the keyframes first and then adjusting on the graph? correct?

Let’s say for example you have a text flying into the screen.When you animate the key frames and hit play the speed is constant and the text comes to a sudden stop so this is definitely when you want to EASE things IN,so the text smoothly comes to the end of the animation.Same thing when animating out,usually you don’t want the text just to jump out like crazy so we EASE it OUT .

You can simply understand the concept of easing when you turn to the graph editor, then try all the modes and you will notice the difference.
