Hi everyone. Here is my issue: I’m working on a vector logo template. I have a CS6 AI file vith text (Open Sans which is TTF). I’m trying to downsave it to EPS 10 format (“Embed fonts” option is checked). When I open EPS 10 file again the text is converted to curves! If anyone has any ideas how to fix the problem please share
I think the font your using doesnt accept embedding. Try another font tell me if this work with you ??
Thanx for your reply, will try it. But other guys on graphicriver use open sans (n other fonts) in their eps logos, and graphicriver staff requested my text in EPS 10 to be editable, so I think the problem is somewhere else
Lakrid, I tried using another fonts but still they are uneditable when saved in EPS 10 or 8. Only in EPS CS text remains editable. Don’t know the reason. It might be difference in text engines in Illustrator versions but I’m not specialist in this area(( Again thax for your replies
Font dosen’t accept embedding is correct. But also, I believe whats happening is that illustrator/indesign (may be more programs) is converting the text when the file is opened.
If you try opening with some other vector program the text will be editable .
I just made a copy of the logo with another font that can be embedded besides the real one, hopefully envato will accept that.
i have the same problem while save in EPS 10 format, and in graphicriver in logo templates you must include EPS 10 format, so what i do is save one file in EPS 10 version & another EPS CS, so your file will get accepted and the user can use the EPS CS version without any problem. (sorry for bad english)
Is your text on a path ?
Also have a look at the ligature setting of the text :
I have just tried on my Illustrator. Yes, the text would be outlined. The solution is you need to turn off the ligature setting for this font: First open the Open Type window (Window menu/ Type/ Open Type). Then select the text and turn off the Ligature setting. After that, save it down to EPS Illustrator 10 as usual. On opening the EPS just hit Update and you can edit the text.Hope it helps!
An alternative reason could be the fact that your text features a WARP effect (eg.: Arc, Bulge, ...). If this is the case, try removing it.
Guys, thanx for your replies!
Here is my situation and how I handled it:
I created logo with text in Illustrator CS6 originally. Simple text not on a path, without any effects (like Bulge or Arc), ligature setting were turned off, Open Sans font was used.
Illustrator CS6 won’t downsave my logo with editable text in EPS 10 format. But when I tried to downsave my file in Illustrator CS5 – miracle happened – it would save EPS 10 format with editable text)))
So I think the problem was in different versions of Illustrator.
Hope these threads would be helpful to someone who is new to GR)
