This chain of thoughts was triggered because of a few tweets.
Basically, since EE is not open source, it should be more secure. However, it probably lacks a little in the customization department but I don’t feel all that moved by that. It should also be more secure because of its sheer popularity, which is less then that of EE.
Now, another thing is that EE’s templating syntax seems to be easier to me…then again, even though I don’t have any commercial web work done, I understand WP syntax OK.
So…opinions? And let’s leave the price out of this one. I don’t really mind the price of EE.
I would say go with what suits you. And think about the future, maybe some features are missing in EE that WP has or vice versa that you will need down the road and won’t be able to implement. I am a huge fan of the open source idea and I don’t want to get into politics but I believe everything should be free. The idea of bringing people together as a community is very powerful and that’s what WP has done.

honestly, wordpress would be nothing without all the great, mighty, powerful and useful plugins the community makes for all kind of needs. and it never has been easier to implement this into a page ( or sidebar ) then now.

This is not true at all. (Hint: Windows vs Linux)
