Who else here is majoring at engineering?
It’s my 4th year and i’m fed up with calculations!
I do not have an official engineering degree, but while I was in school back when I was 19 (late ‘90s) I, together with some others, started with 3 software development companies in which I’ve fulfilled the roll of software engineer for years to come. I wouldn’t know how such an official study would be. I do believe in learning through self-teaching and hands-on practical experience. Since this all comes from an act of passion (started with software programming on age 5 or 6), experience and knowledge come natural this way. The thirst for growth and increase in knowledge. Which brings me to the following:
Shouldn’t you be liking what you’re doing? As in like it very, very much? I think it’s pretty important that you do like your job, thus including the tasks that come with it. Do you?
I am majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering. The topic is vast. We learn about everything from programming, networking, hardware to electrons and control. Most of them are really fun and interesting, but those theory courses arent my type.
No engineer will make it if he doesnt pursuit a specific domain and teach himself everything about it.
School only teaches us how to think as engineers. They teach us some technical stuff, but in my opinion you’ll have to keep learnig
I absolutely agree on that one. Not just because technology is ever-evolving, but there’s always means to deepen your knowledge and then also broaden your knowledge. I’m familiar with running into things that you dislike, but still come with the job regardless. I suppose that one of the benefits of your educational-traject is to also learn what you do and do not like. Take your advantage from it in deciding what direction to go. Good luck with your studies .
I did my onc and hnc in electrical and mechanical eMeche engineering.
True, (unfortunately) I’ll be after masters and PhD. I am nearly done with BE so i am half way there
