Envato Community Night - Sep 8th FINAL NUMBERS - Vote NOW!

Hey guys!

I’m recreating this thread as we’re getting closer and closer to the date of the Chicago meetup and I’d love to hear all of your final thoughts as well as get some final attendance numbers because we’re closer to the date and I’m in the final stages of organising something cool for the community.

Please vote in our new poll to let us know if you can or cannot come. (We’ve created a new poll as we understand peoples opinions and/or commitments may have changed in the mean time since the original thread was created).

Based on previous numbers we’re opting for something low-key but hopefully reasonably quiet and easy to arrange.

• Collis Ta’eed and Cyan Ta’eed among many other key Envato staff will be in attendance, so this is your chance to chat with us and voice your opinions! Or just to hang out!

• We’re not 100% sure on what the best option to do is at this stage, so I’d love for you to let us know in this thread what you think would be fun and work well. Especially if you live in the Chicago area! (I wanted to have a BBQ , but maybe that’s too Aussie :P)

I am planning to come and I am 100% decided to come. I just need to make a plan on how to travel there and hopefully not get lost as I am not that big of a skilled tripper :))

Will probably bring a friend with me and spend a few days in Chicago. Need more info on cheap motels if there are any locals around here.

Gah! Chicago’s too far from NY. I’m still baffled by why it’s in Chicago? Are there more authors from that area?

Chicago was decided by Cyan so I’m not 100% on all of the reasons, but it’s (sort of – obviously closer to the East) a middle ground between East and West coast and apparently somewhat of a conference city (we’re having an Envato conference there for a week)! We looked at NYC but as I’m sure you can imagine, costs were a lot higher.

Ultimately the logistics of Chicago made the most sense after analysing all of the factors that go into planning a conference and that’s how the decision was made.

P.S. I’m glad BBQ ’s are an idea people are into! Does anybody have any ideas if public BBQ ’s are around in American cities? (This may be an extremely ignorant question, but I’m from Aus and they’re everywhere – and they weren’t in Manhattan which is the only real place I’ve been in the U.S)

I would love too but unfortunately the appointment to get my us visa is in november 26th I’ll be there the next year hopefully.
