Hi Collis Why envato doesnt open a new category in themeforest for basic php themes. Not wp or another CMS. Author can sell, if built a simple css3+html5 theme which include basic+ simple admin panel. It is just an advise. tnx
Good question. I think we used to have a bunch of those in CMS > Misc, but I can’t seem to find them now. I will ask someone in the review team if we still accept them.

I’d love to see this reinstated, as I have some lovely items in the works that would fit in there perfectly. Without a category like this on Themeforest, we’re forced to submit these items in CodeCanyon, and I feel they might be better served on Themeforest rather then CodeCanyon?

looks like we are back to bundles each month :(

I mean, isn’t envato making a profit from the percentage of each item sold? Why the need for bundles so frequently?

It’s been almost three months since I took over Marketplaces again, and I wanted to loop back to the community and give an update on what we’re working on, and what we hope to achieve in 2014. You can Read all about it on Notes! And I’ll be dropping in and out of this thread to answer questions!

My view is that author can easily give good support if Envato can make the Forum in Item Tab like WordPress.org

Relatively Adobe After Effects Projects: You must make the tag or attribute “Marker control” or “Animation by Markers”.
This is very important, because we always work with the timeline.

This would be perfect. Hopefully the comments/support section will evolve to something like this :)

Since you are working on payment options: I know many authors a trying hard and take every chance they can get to get “off” ThemeForest to do their own stuff. Some themes or plugins are so complex and high value now that it seems better to create a dedicated landing page with many more information and purchase options than the envato item pages can offer. So far there is not yet the right way/solution for these attempts but as soon as someone has figured out many will try to do the same.

So from an authors standpoint I would love to see the exclusive requirement to drop and to at least allow sales on the own, private page (not other marketplaces). I collaborated on a top selling theme with another author and I seriously believe it is not getting the attention a marketplace (in general) can offer. Maybe envato can even create a system for “off” marketplace purchases?

Again, sorry for being too specific about a feature. Today I tried to show the marketplaces to my friend using windows phone that has display res of 1280×720. The pages doesn’t support marketplace sub menus of any category.

These small things may impact a lot when new users land here through mobile / tablet. They may not even aware there are sub categories for each marketplace. We didn’t face such problems when the major sub categories showed permanently on top bar. May be its time for showing marketplace specific sub categories on footer – by replacing marketplace logos?

Another ‘stake in the ground’ which I feel is needed, is better anti-spamming mechanisms. Everyday there are posts on the forums from outside spammers, Envato should only allow members to post if they match one of two criteria 1) They’re an author with at least one file approved, 2) They’re a buyer who has deposited funds into their account.

If a newly signed-up buyer or author wishes to ask a question they can contact Envato support or the author if it relates to an item. This way we can minimize threads about “not being able to get a file approved” or blatant spamming on forums and items.

If a member is neither an active author or an active buyer then why give them any rights at all to post on forums and content – this just leaves it open to abuse. If a first time buyer has a presale question, then they can just send the author a private message.

Another thing to consider is not allowing authors to comment on other author files, unless they have purchased the file, this way we can illuminate the GLWS posts many authors are complaining about since this can potentially be abused as self promotion.

Envato needs to do more to protect the community by making it a little more exclusive with different levels of permissions to post content. Otherwise we end up with a system we have to continually monitor and manually flag offending posts which just wastes a lot of peoples time.
