Here is my suggestion: make two queues
Newbie Queue: Users who never got an item accepted before
Senior Queue: Authors who had at least one item accepted in the last 2 years (adjusting for quality inflation)
So you only wait too much one time.
Simple answer: hire more reviewers

+1 No need for pre-reviewers and that stuff, not necessary.

+1 and as for new items not staying on the home page for over 5 mins if things go too fast, they should showcase random files instead of new ones.

Pre-reviewing? Umm… I think that is the job of the reviewer
Ok, i think Dany was talking about something but you don’t get it guys. He is totally right. I have experience in this, and i tell here. When i had to do a casting, the casting agency did pre selection for me, and they rejected all those faces, which was obviously not meet our criteria. Its more complicated a bit, because its not about is that woman have damn good tits or not, but is that character is something like that what we need or not. So, when i got 500 photos, and i had to select them 1 by 1 i think is a bit more simple compare to this process here. BUT.. that was really took a lot of time, and we said, sorry, we need a casting, thats why we pay for you. We just wanted to get those faces which is worth the time to spend on it. His example with the nurses / doctors are also similar. Its not the doctor’s job to decide is that person needs a serious medication asap or just give them few nice words, perhaps a vitamine pill and send home. If you would let everyone to go and meet with the doctors in the order of arriving, the whole hospital would turn into a morgue in a week or so. I agree with that, well experienced and skilled reviewers, seniors shold focus on the real deals. They should not deal at all with those items which is far away from the minimal quality. So i agree with Dany, 100%. Seems like he had some kind of experience with something similar method like this. Thats why he thinks with this logic.
Adding “pre-reviewers” you are going to have more support tickets with ticked off authors that didn’t get to make it to the actual reviewer. Less time for reviewer = more time for support team. With the revenue that Themeforest is bringing in, WHY have only 2 reviewers? Get 4 and you have double the productivity.
@iapcsolutions: I think there are more reviewers than what we knew and see. Do you know those guys who stand up from the desk and throw away their mouse in november/december? Its happened quickly, without expectation but where are they? who are they? we dont know nothing about them. But maybe just i missed something.
@dekurvaho – I think there’s only a couple per marketplace, some with just one reviewer. I could be wrong though…

I think that there should be some priorities applied when reviewing. Or the only solution would be to increase the productivity – hiring more. Things need to be acted fast or the queue may last to infinity…
