Hi all mates of Themeforest,

sorry for this kind of question, probably it’s stupid ;)

I’m an Audiojungle author and I was wondering how themeforest works about buying for site. I mean, I want to make my own site but I’m not able to make it, so I go on themeforest, I buy a template I’m interested in, and then?

Thank you for your replies :)

Then you need to buy web hosting and a domain name. Here’s a good article: http://durangomarketer.com/beginners-guide-setting-up-hosting-and-building-a-website/

Hello Luca. Its simple.I’ll give you step by step process. Just follow them.

Step 1- Get a domain and hosting. To upload a website you’ll need a web space and an address to that. Domain is the address and hosting is the space. To get a domain and hosting, you can go to different hosting agencies like Big daddy, i-page, etc. I’ll recommend I-page because its cheapest and reliable. Currently they are offering $1.98 a month for unlimited plan. After purchase, it’ll take you to the admin panel of your domain and hosting. Normally you don’t have to do any necessary settings like c’name or pointers etc. Just follow the steps and verify your domain by entering your registered user name and password. Now search FTP option on your admin panel. Create a FTP username and password. Now get a FTP client like Filezilla. Google it and you’ll find a ton of free FTP clients. {Now you are ready to upload}.

Step 2- Get a theme. (as you have mentioned you have already got one). Now you have to make sure exactly what type of theme it is. i.e. a wordpress, HTML, etc. If it is wordpress (think wordpress as an Operating system and the theme as a software), go back to your admin page and install wordpress to your server (it is easy, as you can find an wordpress icon on admin page). It is generally 1 click step so I don’t think you’ll face any problem. While installation, it’ll ask user name, password and email id. After installation, it will send a link to your email for wordpress ’s admin panel or back end. Log in, and you will find an option for theme installation. After clicking it, you’ll be asked to upload a theme file. Upload it, and wolah..!! your website is ready. Now start customizing. If it is HTML then you do not need any OS. simply upload the files. P.S. Uploading files to a server may takes time to update. Be patience. Try clearing cookies if it is not updated for a long time. Any queries you can mail me at amar(dot)kshk@gmail(dot)com. If you want step by step screenshots of the process, ping me. Hope It’ll help you. Congrats and All the best with your first website.

Amar, thank you so much for your quick guide. Actually, I still don’t have bought yet, but now, after your and others help, I’m convinced to do as soon as I can. That’s incredible find out that is so simple..To be clear, I was planning to call a web designer, but now I see that it’s like music: If you want a customized track or fx, it will cost you more. Just 2 little questions:

1- Do you suggest Wordpress or HTML?

2- Do I have to buy in regular or extended license? (consider that I have to simply put my portfolio from audiojungle and some links to youtube and soundcloud)

Thank you for your kind help

I’ll suggest a wordpress theme with regular licence. Wordpress is easy for customization and also more trendy themes are available. :)
