Best way:

Split the profit by yourself, afterall the team work needs some basic understanding between parties! If a system needs inbetween these things, that actually means you are requiring moderation! :P

With such system, I always doubt that if one file gets poor rating, will this reflect on both the authors profile? I think yes! :D

Sorry, we dropped the idea having researched it quite thoroughly and we have no immediate plans to pursue this feature. There are far too many gray areas that would be difficult to resolve. The “manual” process of two or more authors working together on files is allowed, is working fine, and it can be very successful, but there are no plans to automate this functionality right now, sorry.

no :S

well that’s that, no collaborative feature. :)

I thought about this (have nothing better to do ) and I think one big problem is under what rate the file would have been sold. If we take the following scenario: Author A has 70% rate and author B has 50%, then under what rate the file will be sold? If author A and B makes a third account (like now) that account start from the base rate, 50%

If a collaborative system would have been present, no need for a third account, then maybe the rate would have been 60%

In case of more than two authors: A at 70%, B at 50%, C at 50% the rate would have been 56.66%

But, let’s say the system would have let authors to split profit not only in equal parts but like 10% to author A and 90% to author B. But as we said author A is at 70% and author B is at 50%.

So if the item cost 10$ if author B would have sold this by himself would have made 5$ profit each sale. But if author A would have agreed to appear as a co author to the file for 10% of the profit then the file brings them 6$ (60% ) Author A takes 0,60 cents (10% ) and author B takes 5,40$ (90 %) there’s a nice 0,40 cents made by author B just by paying a small fee to a top author. Is a win win situation for both authors.

Now you may say that author A, who is a top author will have not risk his account to do this trick, but if someone would have asked him why he takes 10% from a certain file and what is his part in the creation of the item, the author would have answered that the 10% is a payment for some advice made by him to author B. It is illegal to pay someone to verify your work? Off course not, so it would have been difficult for envato prove that a “scam” took place, a way of taking advantage of his better rate by author A.

Definitely I have no better thing to do, :|

Hey Scott, what about just allowing authors to transfer funds between 2 accounts ?

They better come up with https as well if that happens.

Just transferring money between two accounts would do a lot, yeah. Also a feature allowing you to mark a project as co-authored and select a co-author so that the other author can make FAQ ’s and when the they comment on the product it marks their comment as “author”, that would be a great help…baby steps though :)
