Hi,

I’ve been buliding a small Countdown template. It got rejected for general aesthetic reasons, visual hierarchy, typograph and so on. I would apprechiate your feedback where is room to improve my template. I thought about the logo and the subscribtion form/button.

Here is the direct link to the Demo

Or a screenshot:

Greetings, Nils

To my eye it is very good work.

A couple of things: subscribe field needs styling (at least 1px grey border), borders of slider controls would look better if they will be lighter, icons are not super (may be something more stylish/interesting– stitched ones like your ribbons for example?), I would add styled tooltips to icons but the fact that you have not forgotten to add <title> is quite good! And text demands improvements–paragraph sits too close to the heading, oblique/italic is not that good here, try normal font-style or another font maybe. Text block is the weakest part of your overall well-done work.

More love for the typography (bold italic is never looking good) and other, more homogeneous icons (e.g. those: http://iconsweets2.com/) and you’re good to go. Your typography ruins the fabulous graphics.

There is the update: Demo Rejected once again: “Every aspect of your design will need to be improved, significantly.”

Would be happy about some more feedback. So long, Nils.

Something more like this would be going in the right direction:

Email me hello[AT]ikreativ[DOT]com and I’ll send you the .PSD of the quick mockup of this.

Thanks! Is still feel a bit uncomfortably, the Item I sell should be my work. Scott, can you maybe explain me what you think makes your sketch more likely to be approved? Should I remove the gallery and slider to concentrate on the essential parts (countdown and email subscribtion)? And then of course focus on typography, alignment and asthetics. I am uncertain what to do right now. If it is worth the effort to try to make it fit the quality standards. Right now it seems that my template just sucks.
