I had enough with people who download my templates from various file sharing and then purchase a template ONLY for support. I decided to NEVER provide support for Russians and Russian speaking countries, because piracy is beyond my power.
As we know, support is not mandatory, if I remind the client about it, he will immediately say he could take it for free and forget about paying for. This happened just now. Additionally they post bad feedback and give bad rating.
This explains why so little sales lately.
Can anyone at Envato help, banning such users and make a SHAME LIST , or TOP CHEATERS . We would also need a way to QUICKLY take down websites that post file sharing download links. FreshKiller is not helpful anymore, as it’s not able to set new websites…

Actually, you can contribute to the FreshKiller server database on github
Still does not help enough fresh, it’s just like that… the download links are behind ad.fly or linkhooks.com stuff and doing this does not work.
On the long run, we need a team to take down entire websites, we have the law, we own our content, we have to make it.
Hi dnp_theme, Sorry to hear about that, hope you will find some solution. I just wanted to post here because I think perhaps you should not discriminate whole country people, just because you had bad experience with a few guys.
PS. I’m not from Russia or anywhere close to that part of World.

@dnp_theme – We (authors) can’t. As long as Envato does not get involved seriously on the issue (and they won’t), is a lost battle.
Forget about it. Don’t even think on them, spend the time working on new files and providing support to buyers (don’t ask them why they bought the file, is not important). That’s all.
Freshface tool is awesome.
But is like fighting armies with post-its.
Thanks for the inputs guys, just it’s not my way of life to surrender. I also don’t have a life time to provide support, just for the sake of the purchase. Anyone would prefer not to pay, or pay ONLY if necessary (when they need support). This is just not acceptable.
I am talking about no more than 10 sites that are constantly posting new file hosting links EVERYDAY , why not send a MEGA TAKEDOWN notice and take them down, it’s that easy. Think about it. FreshKiller is only a tool to clean up the mess, but not a problem solver.
@dnp_theme – I sent you a PM and would appreciate some feedback.
Cheers
Hm…I have an idea for that but it depends fully on the community (of authors).
What about founding some kind of “author foundation”, where authors have to pay a small monthly fee. The money earned through that will be used for a small “action team” which consist of 2 (or more) hunters and is backed up by a lawyer who works only for the benefits of the authors. It’s somehow like an insurance. Every author has a “voice” and can elect a small team who “directs” this foundation, looks for a lawyer, setup the team…
Of course it won’t eliminate all those cases but it could have some impact.
How about that?

That would be great to be done by Envato too, it has alot more power than all of us and takes quite a large share out of our work.

I think Envato has a guy or two fighting piracy on regular basis, can anyone from Envato shed some light on this?
