Yes, I know this has been discussed before.

I have a file on the front page that is generally broken.

I am not talking about some minor issue like the button that doesnt work or whatever..

The update got approved couple of days ago (I was fixing a bug from inital approvement) and now the preview is completely messed up.

I have 2 versions of the file (2 different font versions) and in one version the font is completely missing from the template.

Dont know how this happened (its irrelevant) and I dont really blame the reviewer in charge of the update queue.

Even if the person in charge of the update queue takes a good look at the file he is still not familiar with all the features every file offers for it to successfully be checked.

Although this doesnt apply in my case because like I said, the file is generally broken.

Yes, I have put a link to a working file on my server in the file description, but I doubt buyers actually see that, and I believe most of them just go away in that case.

Why cant we update the files ourselves, how is this going to be abused exactly?

What are poeple going to update, something else?

Doesnt really make sense.

I just want to update my template.

Even if there are some who will find a way to abuse that (and I cant really think of a way now), I have no doubt Envato will take serious punishment for it.

For what am I concerned, the same rule that applies for copyright infringement should apply for this as well.

As you said, this has been suggested in the past. One of the reasons would be that users could add malicious or offending content to the marketplace without a reviewer checking it first.

Relax man, if you want to update your preview anytime you want, simply use your own server. It will save a lot of time.. Also you will always be sure of any kind of encryiption or server side problems

Well then maybe the review process should still happen but like this:

When the author needs to update the file he can do it immediatelly and when that happens reviewer gets an indication that update has happen and he still looks at the file (whether he is going to do it next day or next year I dont care)

About the “malicious or offending content” you obviously havent read my inital post.

I said: “the same rule that applies for copyright infringement should apply for this as well.”

This means one offence and you are out.

How should I link the original preview window to my server?

I far as I know I can only put the link in my file description.

And dont tell me broken preview on the front page doesnt hurt your sales.

Thats what I was talking about.

Tean, man just not upload your preview to AD. Upload a 590×300 swf file to link your server so you wont be having this problem again. And cmon, everybody knows a broken preview will drop your sales. in my first template my portfolio didnt work, almost 2 weeks and i lost being on first page.. and it wasnt even a bug because of me it was about AD server problems.
