Is anyone else having issues with Firefox 4 freezing or crashing?

I’m on OSX and am constantly relaunching FF.

Curious if anyone may know what is going on.

Mine just freezes at random times. Some times I get that drop down message about a script not running and of you want to stop or continue.

I like FF but this is irritating.

Just reinstalled Windows today because both FF and Chrome were acting weird. Chrome always crashed when i tried to download something (save an image for example) and FF had issues at random times.

For now it seems to be working well.

I was using Windows 7 32bit and now on Windows 7 64bit, no issues today.

Might have been the 32bit or maybe i had viruses and stuff on my computer, who knows :)

My daily experience: FF4 starts up perfectly fine, I load up GMail, it still works great. I open one or two tabs and type an address for each, it freezes. After 5 seconds it works again and never freezes again.

In my opinion Firefox 4 on Mac OS X is horrible. It’s very slow and it likes to freeze from time to time. But on Windows 7 it works fine for me.

Yeah, FF4 is buggy…

  • fetches pages very slow compared to 3.6
  • uses an amazing amount of memory. I have 8 GB, but when FF4 is at 1k load, it’s not very responsive…
  • often freezes when loading a page
  • crashes often
...and the list goes on…

It’s definitely not my machine, I think (Core i7 2.9 GHz, 8 GB RAM , 160 GB SSD , Win 7 Ultimate x64)

For the moment I only use it on my (other) work laptop, which is not even half as powerful as the above. I just got used to it being slow :(

Also, until they update Ubiquity for it, I’m crippled. (you can hack Ubiquity to work with Firefox 4.0, but many commands just don’t work)

The way I see&feel it, FF 4 .0 is just like Windows Vista. A beta for the version to come :(

It’s lightning fast for me and hasn’t crashed yet (on OSX ). Renders pages faster than Chrome :) Haven’t tested it on Win7 though.
