As far as I know authors can remove (flag as inappropriate) every comment they want without reason. :P

Flag, yes. Get removed, not so much, at least not without a valid reason :)

p.s: Warnings on spam go out for abuse, but don’t imagine that warnings for abusive flagging don’t exist :D

One of the reviewers said that comments flagged by an author of item on (item) page are automatically removed, so who’s wrong? :P

Well, I can tell you first hand that they don’t get removed automatically, as that’s one of the things I deal with on a daily basis. But hey, you’re free to believe what the reviewer told you, especially as the Item comments section is handled exclusively by the Community Team (which doesn’t include Reviewers) :P

But that is already beyond the point of this discussion, so if you have any other questions regarding the actual process behind it, drop me a line through my profile page and I’ll be sure to reply as soon as possible :)

Well wouldn’t that be terribly convenient and slightly one-sided ? :D No, the Item Comments area is used for pre-purchase questions, support in some cases when the Author stated that they will use it for that purpose, and don’t have an external Support forum, and for product feedback. Good or bad, as long as it’s legitimate and expressed in line with the Forum Rules, it will and should be there for other buyers to read. The Author just has the possibility to flag messages he thinks are inappropriate, and have the Staff moderate them accordingly, based on the above mentioned principles.
