Hi there,

I just acquired the Fadelicious theme, and I noticed and adding text with accents (i.e. é ç ã) I end up with a “All caps” of the same letter with the accent. As I have the main language as portuguese, it will be difficult to avoid this.

I tested the font in another software, it contains the special characters, but on the web, it has a undesired result.

Any solutions?

It seems like that font should handle accented characters, even on the web (http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/Qlassik-Medium ). This might be a question for the theme author (http://themeforest.net/user/elemis ), but you should try to provide a link to an example so the code can be examined, too.

Just for the heck of it, I’d try changing your CSS (or use firebug to do it), and remove that font (which I believe is being included using @font-face, by the way) temporarily. See if the problem still occurs with a known web safe font like Arial or Tahoma.

Good luck :)

I’m new to web things, my whole life was the printing business. Messing with CSS is something like an alien language to me. So far I’m playing with it in an non public site, trying to get more familiar with the template. Changing the typeface crossed my mind, but it won’t go with the theme, it’s like it was made for it.

I found this link, which has the same theme, but seems they didn’t mind the issue with the accents. http://comeceacorrer.com.br/

Thanks

Ah, I think I found your solution. You’re not getting capital accented letters – rather, the letters are the correct case, they just appear larger. This is because they are being displayed in a different font, which renders and a different absolute size on the page. The accented characters are being displayed in a different font because the font file being used in the @font-face include does not include the accented glyphs.

That may have been completely incomprehensible, but it doesn’t matter. All you need to do is to generate the right font files via this page:

http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/Qlassik-Medium

Under “Choose a subset”, instead of English choose “MacRoman (Western Languages)” and then download the @font-face kit.

In the kit you’ll find a variety of files. The files with the following extensions:

.eot
.svg
.ttf
.woff

You will need to replace their equivalents within your theme. Basically, you are replacing the English set of glyphs with the English + MacRoman glyphs (these include accented characters). Hopefully you won’t have to change the CSS , but it’s a possibility (you’ll need to talk to the author if this doesn’t work).

To find these files in your theme, search the theme folder for a fonts area, and specifically for those names. I’d back them up before making any changes, just to be safe.

If you can’t find the files (I can’t direct you on this because I don’t know the structure of the theme), you should contact the author with this information and he will be able to tell you which files need to be replaced.

Hope that helps!

Hello

@fabiodebortoli, have you been able to solve the font issue? You could ask us for the font files with Portuguese support. If you can send us an email using the contact form on our profile page we can help you.

@sevenspark, you’re very kind to answer however we think we shouldn’t help this much without being sure if someone has purchased the item or not.

I have purchased, but I didn’t know where to get help.

sevenspark, thanks for guiding…

I did manage to download the fonts, trying to get in touch directly with elemis to see if this is possible, I mean, if it won’t have any side effects. But I must say, you were spot on!!!

I still need some more help with the theme, as I’m not managing to get the short codes supplied on the help files. When I look the source, the are different than the supplied.

Thanks again. Fabio
