I think some authors don’t have any sort of talent, neither are designers. I respect and try to help as much as I can very young (and not) fellows out there, who try to create something original, while others, just pick up the top author’s work and plain copy a format wich sells.

Anybody is copying me, I’m talking about a trend wich affects all the major authors in general: people copying entire items descriptions and thumbs style, or using the same format over and over. There wasn’t a rule wich used to say you can’t upload more than 3 variations of the same work?

So FRANKLY I think Envato is not paying enough attention to this behaviour wich affects authors like Elicabe, indieground, andre28 and many others, wich are emulated in quantity affecting their sales and reputation.

I know this is a place where you can learn and become a designer, but I don’t think we need people who just emulate without any respect for the others (and themselves), and are not intended to raise their reputation.

Actually placing negative comments is not an option because it will affect the reputation of the commentator, of the author and of the markeplace itself.

We Authors should have a private forum where we can discuss the deletion of copied items, and the ban of unuseful authors who just copy.

I’m not talking about quality, wich is the reviewers task, I’m talking about copying others ‘styles and formats wich is something reviewers can’t handle and notice every time. There’s a period in the beginning when you copy, or just take inspiration I guess, but that period can’t last forever and some authors really affects in a negative way the quality of the market.

A message for reviewers: do you have a minimum of items to be accepted every day? Because sometime seems like you just approve something because you’ve already rejected too much stuff. I mean quality is better than quantity, but I guess my philosophy goes against the earning Envato makes even on crappy files.

Just a reminder for authors and newbies: if you think you can be rich fast here, or elsewhere, being a graphic designer, you’re on the wrong road. It’s a matter of honour and glory, money will come later (publicity = money) first you need to offer something unique. That’s why your crappy logos or flyers don’t sell ;)

The system to approve the items in creattica looks stronger. I support these post 100%

I feel demotivated by the context here, to post new items. Because we are a mix between technique and art, and the artist need something more, called respect. No just money.

I hope a change in here.

Thanks G! for the mention.

I agree 100% with this…
I had saw many works which are supposed to be “Inspired” by some of my items, but they’re even copying my items description style.

We’re waiting ages for changes,. I’m really sad to say, but I think nothing is gonna change for a great time :(
I really respect envato, but I think they’re not even listening our claim.

Sometimes (even today) i see logo’s approved which are so simular to existing ones. I always think: these definitly going to be rejected if i would made them.

Escpecially real estate and marketing logo’s. There is nothing wrong with these subjects but try your own unique approach.

I also like very clean and simple logo’s but some are almost just icon’s with text under it.

But don’t get demotivated, always try to move forward!

Respect to a lot of authors here!

some months ago 3 authors copied 3 of my logos, i send DMCA notices to envato and they told me that my DMCA had wrong format, i fixed them and resend the DMCAs again and they told me again that my DCMAs were wrong. I never send a DMCA to Envato again and those authors are still selling copies of my logos. I don’t plan to send a DMCA again in my life.

It is ironic because the template i use for my DMCAs have been accepted in a lot of host sites. Envato was the only 1 who never accepted my DMCAs…

BTW , I agree with you. Some authors… gosh…

To name an example, look for “geek” or “nerd” in the logo category. You will see almost the same logo like 3424234234234 times… so sad.

Blah, copying is for noobs. Stealing is the king :D

Your post makes me happy and proud, Giallo. I am a noob in design but copying won’t make me any better.

Thanks for the mention Giallo! what could i say more then this… i felt really bad when i saw people copying even the style of my thumbnails, preview images and text description… unfortunately envato cannot do much i think…we are a growing market and it’s quite difficult to know every single file present in the marketplace.

But on one thing i totally agree: quality is better then quantity and i feel that reviewer are not so strict as some time ago… There should be more selection since the marketplace need to be known as a place where is possible to find great design at a reasonable price… and not crappy design that hide under a pile of items the good works…

;)

What can I say.. You guys already said everything.. I completely agree on every single thing.. It’s obvious that reviewers can’t recognize every single copied template.. but at least be more strict on the judgment, not only on the item but also on the preview.. because sometimes I see good designs presented in a crappy preview.

I have no words for the “authors” who copies the other peoples work.. I saw a lot of times some spoof of my flyers.. someone even use the same font writing exactly the SAME WORDS .. cmon guys.. in the last months this marketplace is full of fake designers that doesn’t know the difference between “inspiration” and “copy”.

I hope that things will change in better..
