I was woundering if there are any free icons that we can use in our templates?
I sent a mail to famfamfam and asked if it was okey to use his (if i put a “icons made by famfamfam” and a link to his page, but i havent got an answer yet.
It would be to time consuming to make a set of own icons.
Here’s a tutorial on WebDesignerWall about making mini icons. I haven’t tried it, but it seems like a good tutorial. Maybe taking the time to make one nice set of your own would be beneficial because then you could use them on all the themes you make and wouldn’t have to get permissions or anything.
I tend to use Everaldo’s Crystal icon set from time to time because its licensed under the LGPL , as long as I leave credit there aren’t really any major problems.

I think it is good to create one set for yourself. Besides, it may increase your theme value by the way. Because the icon set is also consider unique and can’t be download elsewhere
The Web Designer Wall site rocks!
so.. any luck using the famfamfam icons here, or what does people say, beside something about the webdesignerwall ?

The famfamfam icons are released under the Creative Commons 2.5 license – meaning you can use them for whatever purpose you like, as long as you provide credit to the author.
This could be done either through a “Icons by famfamfam” in the footer’s copyright notice, on a ‘Credits’ page, in a FAQ etc.

Last week, Noupe.com posted some incredible icons. Check them out. I downloaded quite a few sets myself.
