I had this idea. If our products we list don’t meet the guidlines, we can have two choices: 1, make the price $0 or fix it up and try again.

What do you think? I’d like to see free stuff also, maybe have a free texture or two from my packs and that might help get more sells.

Basically files that have a negative effect on the marketplace and on the author himself should be given away?

I think you are thinking in the wrong way, here’s how it works most of the time:

Good files = freebie better files = premium paid content.

You are suggesting to give away files that are under our quality standards. This will have an adverse effect on the image of the market and yourself resulting in decreased popularity and sales…for everyone.

Unless of course I am misunderstanding you.

I don´t think that is a good idea.

First because it would not be right that an author makes an effort to work and tell them that their work is worthless and for that reason give away.

and second because the rating would increase sales for the owners of those free files, they could occupy place should not, such as popular.

ese es mi punto de vista ;)

Alright, I see what your getting at. You made your point :P

But I’d like to give away one or two textures in one of my texture packs for like samples. Know what I mean?

Well, if I understand, what you want is to give an example of the original file.

What is wrong with preview? It seems to work very well. People would start posting 5 minute spin-off crap. It would get bad

Also if envato keeps deciding prices then who is to say if it is free or not. You could work very hard on something and have them post it as free. I’m sure if it ever happened (god forbid) that there would be a check box but still it is a no go
