So, I purchased a new Dell Studio laptop a few months ago with the free upgrade to Windows 7 option… but after re-reading the fine print, I have to pay shipping, handling, tax… I tell ya, nothing is FREE anymore.
(sorry wrong category…not used to the new forum yet)
No worries, I fixed that for you.
And thats no fun. But there are truly some things in life that are free. Our Free files of the month are 100% free.
I bought a machine a while back with XP and had a free upgrade to Vista. It was SUCH a hassle. Had to pay all that stuff that you mentioned, but it also took over 3 months to get to me, and I had to go through a lengthy process where I had to keep logging into a website to track my order and confirm things, almost weekly. Really annoying!
I felt like it was set up to be difficult so people just didn’t even bother with it. Kind of like mail in rebates being offered on the principle that something like 60% of the people never actually mail them in.
Thanks Mark – yea, I was buying a laptop anyway so it’s not like I’m out anything…but I’ve heard some good things about 7, so I was a little eager to get rid of vista.
As am I my friend , I’m picking up my copy tomorrow!
Well, technically it is free. It says free upgrade, not free upgrade with shipping and taxes. ;D However, the least they can do is fork down a couple bucks for shipping since you just plopped down a bunch of money.
“Free” and “Microsoft” are not compatible Same for me, new Dell and a promess to get Windows7
