“I think the tone should be: Credible but not over-earnest. Grown up but not boring. Light of touch but not glib or cheesy. Perhaps witty, but definitely not overly comedic. Friendly but not over familiar. Confident but not arrogant. Contemporary but not contrived. Light but not lightweight.”
A less cheeky response: That’s a lovely poem! Now, about the brief, could you please send me the details …
Send me your money and i will tell you its real or fake.

Yeah, and there will be bundles too. Get 500 hours for $20. Limited offer!
I get quite some small customization jobs through the support forums I work at. Here’s my recent story, besides all the ones that ask for a quote and never reply back:
A woman contacted me for a quote on recoding the portfolio page of a theme I support, I quoted $280. She did not bother to reply.
Some days later she sent an email which went along the lines of “Hey, I did that myself now but I couldn’t figure out [some thing], can you quote me for just that?”
Fine, I quoted her $180. “Sounds great, I’ll talk to the client”. Client sends me an email asking for the detailed brief, I sent it over, he agrees, woman did not bother to reply.
Some days later she sent an email again, it again went along the lines of “Hey, I did that myself too but I cannot for the life of me figure out [this one last part] – it’s just very quick work, please quote me for that!”
I quoted her $100. She replied back that she feels the work was so little that I need to quote less. I asked her to finally figure out whether she wants to hire me or not, that I normally don’t discuss my rates and I quoted her $80.
She said she does not want to hire me now because I’m rude and unprofessional.
It made me more angry than I wanted to…

Ha ha… these kind of people will always ask for help or hire someone, but never let the man do the job. They think because they know something they can do everything and instead of stepping back and “watch you” do it they get involved and the result is not nice.
You know the best part in freelancing? If the client pisses you off, you can curse him directly however you want and look! you don’t get fired!
