Personally I have never liked or needed tablets. IMO , they’re more for sort of qualitative work, if you will – such as painting or illustrating, not designing print templates.

I use the trackpad on my MBP . I don’t like using a ‘mouse’ and I like the flexibility and precision the large trackpad gives me (Maybe it’s a happy medium between tablet and mouse), as well as all the gestures – speeds up work so much.

I guess it’s down to personal preference though, if you enjoy and feel more confident using a tablet over your current solution, there’s only you who can decide if it’s the right choice.

I suggest you to start with the tablet everyone starts with! The mithyc Bamboo Fun Tablet 99.99 in most countries :):) Then you can get the intuos (after at least 1 year of practice).

QeA buy one, try it. For designing and masking is awesome, you create much faster and much cleaner. Photoshop has a lot more potential with a tablet, you’re not using all the Brush settings at all.

I thought like you at the beginning then when I switched I was angry because I couldn’t get used to that instantly. After a week it was amazing..

Yep! nothing beats the Wacom Intuos 4. Works great with Photoshop, I find that photoshop becomes more flexible if you frequently use the “pen tool” free form pen tool, drawing etc…It’s a must have only for the “serious designer or illustrator”
