Just have a massive ‘Download Chrome if you want to keep using Google’ button which would be hidden on any browser but IE :)

Fulltank is right:P But you know, even after IE 6 is dying, most novice users still don’t know how or WHY to upgrade from the default IE 6 on their Win XP installation (Many people still have XP) They’re just not aware. On a few of my sites, I still get more IE 6 visitors than IE 7 though IE 8 is taking the lead. According to W3C , IE 6 now has a market share of less than 10%.

I think it is up to web developers to spread the word and encourage users to upgrade to FireFox or ATLEAST IE 8 .

You can use browser detection scripts…that is true.
