Am I right? Because I haven’t been following the buzz around the Google OS :P

Yes, it will be a basic browser OS, so your browser is your OS, pretty cool, this would be usefull for netbooks but i think not for your basic pc.

PS: Daan fix je link eens :P

I agree – sort of like a terminal for your kids or the folks loike my grandparents who only use it for e-bay. Still, pretty neat though!

yeah – honestly with all the buzz and then this – rather disappointing I feel – I mean it’s just linux with nothing but a browser – WTF !? Sure useful in some applications but you aren’t going to see the level of complexity from desktop apps just magically appearing as good web based. Like you said – ok for netbooks etc – but apart from that….

Couldn’t most linux tinkerers be able to just do this now? I mean – basic install of a linux dist. and then throw google chrome in there with bookmarks.

Seems like it’s made purely for a device just above a smart phone to be honest.

I guess time will tell.

I think it is nice as everything is basically kept online allowing you to get new machines and not lose anything.

Definitely a Netbook type of OS that’s for sure

maar dat laat tf me niet doen op dit moment? Daarnaast roept mijn bed!

Anyways, I think I’m a little disappointed then, but I’m sure a lot of people will have the feeling that because it’s made by google, it’s good. But for now I think it’s even too little for netbooks, as i’ve seen friends use desktop apps/games (red alert 2 ftw) on theirs as well..

Well it is possible that when it will be released that it will be different.

An Operating System that relies on an Internet Connection, is well bad ….. BUT the point is, google wants to push the Cloud Idea… the more people under their “cloud” the more control they’ll have over market share/your files … I’ll be boycotting Google on this one.

Think about it, How will you be able to store your Pirated Movies… if Google can know you got them… and in the near future with the anti-piracy laws etc… btw i dont have any pirated movies.

And to imagine, they piggy back on the Open Source community, they want help from the linux community to develop it FOR THEM … they’re using Git publicly.

Open Source development, for Google should be classified as labor exploitation.
