Don’t sell your items here it’s pretty simple. ThemeForest have adapted the GPL license for WordPress themes (PHP files). JavaScript, CSS and other files are not under GPL .

ThemeForest have accepted to adapt to the GPL license and I think they should fully understand that there should be no double standards.

GPL license is owned by the public so anything released under the GPL license is not owned by any one person but under the General Public License.

So if an author decides to sell an item here @ TF where GPL license is a must… they fully agree for others to use their code (so I don’t see what the problem is?) but obviously the design has to be their own and unique.

I read a thread here where someone said that TF won’t accept themes that are “copied” but they’re clearly missing the point here, it’s not copied but a GPL code available to anyone to MODIFY , COPY and REDISTRIBUTE .

So to any authors out there, if you’re using code under the GPL license theres absolutely no problem with it. Continue & good luck.

All the best.

This seems to be in response to the thread I started?

Are you talking about me? Because you understand that this person copied my entire theme: javascript files, CSS files, HTML markup, everything, right? Sorry, but GPL doesn’t cover this.

If I was talking to you the title would have been “ThemeBlvd, If you don’t like GPL … you know where to stick it”. Well in PM anway. – But it isn’t.

This thread, admittingly was inspired by your thread but is not aimed at you; but some of the silly replies.

I understand that in your case it was pure theft of your hard work (CSS, documentation, JavaScript + other files) which you did NOT release under the GPL license and you have every right not to be pleased about it(who would be?!) and I hope you get some sort of compensation for this if the buyers are not being refunded. (I see that the file has been dropped).

I want to make sure people don’t get confused with their rights and know what is allowed and what’s not because it’s getting confusing.

All the best.

One thing to remember, however, is that under GPL you are entitled to write a copyright and all copies or modified versions of your code need to also carry that copyright.
