Just curious: do you guys (designers) use a graphic tablet for your designs? or is the mouse enough. I’m thinking of buying one but i need to be sure this is a smart investment.

Honestly, I don’t think a graphic tablet is worth the money, you can do things much fast with a moue and keyboard. But that’s just my opinion.

For mostly web design stuff, a tablet would probably get in your way….it’s overkill :) You’d probably end up switching between table/mouse far too often for it to not be annoying.

Speaking from experience…used to have a Wacom tablet few years ago. Got it for the same purpose, I thought it would help me, it only proved irritating in the end.

If you plan on doing other things as well such as vector illustrations, digital paintings and so on, then you can definitely get the tablet, it will save you lots of time.

I recently upgraded my Graphire4 to Intuos3: http://twitpic.com/kci7f

It definitely helps, especially for sketching. You see, being primarily a developer rather than a designer, I am used to use computers instead of just pencil and paper (although I occasionally sketch on paper still).

I had 2 tablets, Cintiq 12WX LCD and a Bamboo version 1, which i am still using. You can work as fast with the pen as compared to a mouse.

I use the pen to prevent RSI .

I am going ot upgrade my old Bamboo to the new version, which you can also can use you fingers instead the pen. Pretty cool.

I use a wacom for my graphic stuff. Works great even though it should mainly be used when drawing a sketch of some sort.

But I made my last item on GraphicRiver with my wacom!

I REALLY want a tablet… for artsy photoshop painting type stuff. I think the mouse is fine for web design though.

I don’t use a tablet for designing. I use one for when I want to illustrate something, though.
