Hi peeps, I think it might be fun and interesting to see what undiscovered gems are out there…

I’ll start with this beauty:

Blood On Satan’s Claw by Marc Wilkinson.

I love it. I am a big fan of old british horror films from the Hammer, Amicus and Tigon studios.

Terrific, haunting music.

Anybody know any other cool ones that we might not have heard? I am not talking about Star Wars, You Only Live Twice or other massively famous ones here etc…

:)

Hello, there :) Thx for post, I heard that piece earlier, but need to re-listen, going to do it tomorow.

Not sure about rare pieces, but I am a huge fan of Jerry Goldsmith’s “The Omen” Orchestral Soundtrack.

The most scary and transcendental masterpiece for me, very heart/soul touching and emotional. The first movie is great obviously ofc…

Its very famous oscar winner soundtrack, but if anybody haven’t listened it yet and you like serious orchestra music – check it, too.

Yes, the Omen soundtrack was fantastic and Jerry is too! I think it qualifies these days as I bet a lot of younger people (than me) might not have heard it.

I am not being elitist just trying to discover new music I might like.

One of my favorites is Gil Talmi’s score to the PBS documentary about origami “Between the Folds”.

The movie is available to stream on Netflix and Hulu Plus and is a very interesting watch, I’d definitely recommend checking it out!

That’s a great choice Brian, I’ll check out the film tonight.

Destroyed by Youtube, but this is the only quality vid I could find of Lux Aeterna… NOT from Requiem For A Dream, but from the little-known (and not very good) film ‘Bless The Child’

At 2:38, once the passacaglia section starts, it really takes on a life of its own and is pretty much an education in how to build a track from nothing to something massive. You’ll also hear a bunch of lush and more adventurous tonal harmony here that you would never hear in most film music today.

Hi Revturkey…I’m a big fan of Brit Horror too and grew up watching all those Hammer and Amicus horror films on late night TV. James Bernard’s contribution to Hammer was immeasurable and the same goes for Douglas Gamley for Amicus. I also love Harry Robinson’s music for Hammer (Twins of Evil etc) and Hammer had some great composers for their movies.

Huge fan of Miklos Rozsa….here’s one of his Main Title themes on YouTube. Just love those low resonating trombones!!

As well as the great film composers (we all know who they are) there are those lesser known ones who occasionally came up with a classic score. Russell Garcia’s score to the original movie of “The Time Machine” is a particular favourite of mine…

Enjoying the music everyone. Here’s another of my ol’ faves:

The Valley of Gwangi! http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NDzBzwYQU-E

It gets going around 1:22 and I think it interesting bears a similarity to the theme to On Her Majesty’s Secret Service also released in 1969.

‘Avalon’ soundtrack is simply the superior and the most heavenly film music I’ve heard.

‘Voyage to AVALON’

Kenji Kawai is a great example of a excellent composer not enough people heard of.

Jim Meacock’s score to the BBC series “The Planets”. Listen to “Neptune”. Haunting and beautiful. If you can’t find it Rev I’ll email it to you. I love this track.

Bravo on the Hammer thing too. As you know I’m a big fan of that stuff also.

Watching Horror of Dracula as I type this in fact! Nothing like a Hammer movie at 2am.
