Before these last 2 months, I had seen an average of around 9 ratings per month for the previous year. Over these last 2 months, however, I’ve had 2. Two ratings. That’s it. And that’s even with these last 2 months being above-average sales months for me.

Is this a trend others are seeing as well?

yes, last rating was 27 days ago

now while I was checking this I’ve seen that some of the reviews made after the ratings change have no text comment. Any idea why?

People love to rate anonymously.

Because ratings are now visible to the author, some people (those who are also authors) rate more carefully, because they know they can get the same rating in return.

Also, there are some buyers who do not rate because they think that if they rate with anything else than 5 stars, the author will spam them with emails asking for the reason of the rating.

We’re not having a similar situation – our ratio is still around 6 ratings / day without any changes lately.

I think people love to rate as long as they have a tremendous experience both with the theme and the support.

There’s a definite decrease – I’ve also noticed that since Envato changed the system, introducing no ratings below 4 stars without a written reason, I’ve had higher ratings. Or maybe I’m just getting better ;) I think people just can’t be bothered to write anything?

Not necessarily. I met enough buyers who sent me emails saying “excellent etc”, “awesome etc” or they leave a comment in the item’s page saying “great etc 5 stars” but they don’t rate instead :)

And I don’t like to push them saying “please rate if you liked it blah blah”
