Is this just for the admin user? Or will all users get the message. I get clients panicing and clicking the WP version update all the time.

OK, I figured out the problem. it was the “notifier.xml” file permissions, set to 444 and it works perfectly now.

It works but I keep getting the update message when both style.css and xml file report the same version:You have version 1.2 installed. Update to version 1.2 . Any clue?

By the way if anyone has You do not have permission issue, be sure you do not have spaces in theme name or modify add_dashboard_function accordingly.

Thanks for your answer, there were no space between the version numbers apart from the space between ‘version:’ and ‘1.2’, and also removing that space didn’t work.

Still getting the notification update even when there is no updates wich is very annoying (for my customers in particular). Damn I can’t understand what’s wrong It’s driving me nuts, I think I have to remove that.

UPDATE :
I finally managed to fix it re-writing part of the script, replacing the deprecated function get_theme_data() with the new wp_get_theme().
