Few weeks back I submitted a template in PSD category, it was rejected but not so hard. The remarks were not the usual “Not fit for themeforest”. Here’s what they said-

Your template has a good start, unfortunately, due to our high requirements your template is not ready for the PSD template category.

This suits better in Site Templates or another category, it has potential to be accepted but it may require more improvements before it’s approved under another category.

Your are not providing an unpleasant template but the PSD category requires higher quality in terms of aesthetics.

So now I think I should try it for HTML category. I’m looking for an HTML developer for this.

Contact me if you’re willing to collaborate. I’m ready to edit the PSD to enhance the quality. Link to images- https://www.dropbox.com/sc/dl8a9y6hueskik1/RtsNxLZC79#/

Please include your Portfolio, a good TF background is preferable. This will lead to long term partnership.

I would highly suggest you to try and get this template accepted under PSD. It’s a big risk for developers to work on something like this and since you are not that far away, you really should try a bit more. And honestly speaking, I don’t thing this would get accepted as HTML at the moment, if developer 100% followed your template. You need to make it more consistant, fix typography, add a function or two. It is known that PSDs require higher quality, but I don’t think reviewer makes you a favour with the last paragraph.

Good luck.

I understand there are typography issues and that’s why I said I’m ready to edit and more if I get the feedback as to what needs to be changed to develop. I’m also not expecting someone to follow it 100%.

Also, this is from some time back and when I wasn’t much into web design, things have improved so let me known if anyone is willing.

I appreciate the inputs.

Sorry but that sounds like you want someone to tell you how to design it and then to build it for you and you are ‘partnering’???

If you have more improved ideas and designs or your design skills have improved then why not submit one of those as a PSD – as it is now with only a file not good enough for here there is not really much reason for anyone to partner with you.

Not sorry to tell you to re read my reply. :)
what needs to be changed to develop

I’m assuming you know less about there being revisions from design to development process.

tell you how to design
I included the design for you to see.

With all due respect i did read the reply as you said “I’m ready to edit and more if I get the feedback as to what needs to be changed to develop” so my interpretation is that you would like someone to tell you what needs changing to the design. Is that not the job of the partner who is responsible for the design element?

Of course stuff requires revisions and it’s nothing personal but if someone asks for a developer to code a website, that is different from asking someone to tell you how to edit it to get it to a standard worthwhile coding.

I think you’re getting it wrong, or I’m not choosing the right words, so an example- Let’s assume, the developer doesn’t understands the spirit and function of an element with which I designed it, it would be better in my opinion to have a talk with him beforehand than telling him “Oh no, you got it wrong, please redo the whole thing on that element”. Same goes with Developer vs Designer, which the case here is. The coder here is someone I’ve never talked ever, let alone for this particular design.

That’s fine and I agree with discussing designs – my point is in a partnership each party has to bring something to the table.

You are asking for someone with portfolios and a good TF background yet the design linked here is not up to the standard for here. As the designer to have a realistic chance of someone wanting to work with you, and for it to be fair then you have to demonstrate you have what it takes (I am not saying you don’t) to uphold your part of the agreement.

Just out of curiosity, what would be payment split be if a developer coded this PSD into HTML or WordPress? Keep in mind that PSD templates don’t sell very many copies, and have a low selling price (http://themeforest.net/category/psd-templates?utf8=%E2%9C%93&order=desc&sort_by=sales_count&categories=psd-templates). Would you consider selling the rights to the PSD design for a flat rate, or would you insist on a percentage of all future sales?
