We see some video players on various sites with a “HD on/off” button. Can anybody tell me how that is done?
From what I understand, HD is all about how the video is encoded (mp4, mov, etc) and now flash player is capable of playing them. But how is it turned on or off during runtime?
Is another version of the video (flv) is loaded when the HD off button is clicked? Or anything else? I’ve searched quite a lot on the internet, but no luck!!!...

Yes, another HD video is loaded.
yes, another video
Yes, another video
LOL ..thanks for clearing up guys! That’s what I’ve been thinking. Just wanted to confirm.
But that should be possible only if the video is being streamed from an RTMP server…right? Because, if I view HD almost half way and then decide to view normal, the video shouldn’t load from the beginning..it whould load from the point where I choose to change the mode…and that is possible only with streaming and not progressive download…right?

yes, If you want to switch to HD in the middle of the movie , you need to have streaming video (via flash media server).
Thanks for clearing that up dSKY.
