hi everyone,

one of my client has a hosting package with wordpress feature.

there is a directory “htdocs”, as far I know it is the root directory.

there is a folder named “wordpress” in “htdocs” and all themes are installed in it.

problem is I have added index.html page to “htdocs”, but whenever I go to the domain in web browser, it opens the wordpress theme not the html page.

anyone know why it is happening? the support of company is useless.

any help will be appreciated :)

thanks in advance.

From what you described it is impossible for that to happen. :)

is there another index.something file in the foot that has taken priority over index.html? for example, index.php? And that file may be redirecting to /wordpress/ or including a file. :-)

impossible to happen unless wp has been installed in root or as reaper stated if a file redirecting to /wp/ is present.

is there any possibility that there would be any file in wordpress that is doing the thing?

thanks

It is a hosting with wordpress feature so maybe it has been pre- setup for wordpress ? In that case there might be a redirection command from the hosting side, you should check out .htaccess or contact the hosting service

Like the above two posts say, it could be a .htaccess file, which is quite likely, probably a hidden RewriteRule (one with no [ R ] or [ R=300 ]) if the address is not changing to /wordpress/
