Hi,

I bought a template here and I finished my website almost, but I have two (little?) problems. The author is almost never responding, thats why I’m posting my problem over here ;)

I have a question about my navigation, is completely showing when someone is landing on my website, also when you click on a other page and then on the homepage the same problem is showing, it looks it is having to do with loading the pictures….

http://www.geluk-bv.com

The other question is when you click on the early post at the bottem (“eerdere berichten”) the thumbnails of the slider dissapeare.

Can someone help me with these problems?

Hiya

Problem 1

I couldn’t see the problem you are trying to describe… Could you show us a screen print of the problem?

Problem 2

The other question is when you click on the early post at the bottem (“eerdere berichten”) the thumbnails of the slider dissapeare.

When you click on the “OUDERE BERICHTEN ” the page which is loaded is: http://www.geluk-bv.com/page/2/?lang=en the images have relative URLs, which means it’s looking for the image in relation to the present directory.

The way to solve this is to edit the code so that the src="" tag starts with a forward slash.

I hope this helps, Joel

Thanks for your reply!!!

I changed the link to: src=”/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/Geluk-Slider-herinrichting-150×150.jpg”

But I’ve got the same problem, when i look into the source, I see the full link of this tumb…

Problem 1, you can see the subnavigation completely showing when someone is landing on my website, when you enter the url en the page is loading, you see approx 2 sec the subnavigation.

Hereby a screenshot:

Did you save the change to the live site, because I don’t see the change when I view the course code :S

Ah I see what you mean now, this is because the navigation items are hidden using javascript after the page has loaded. There is not really anything you can do to stop this while maintaining the sites usability when javascript is turned off.

Ah I think I see what’s happening…

The string you enter is being passed to wp-content/themes/FancyTheme/thumb.php?src=[STRING]

The wp-content/themes/FancyTheme/thumb.php?src= is hard-coded into the template, and it’s this which you need to change.

I’m not the best person to tell you where to look for this, I would try and find it in the functions.php file. When you’ve found it change it to:
/wp-content/themes/FancyTheme/thumb.php?src=

And hopefully it will work… If there is someone with a deeper WP knowledge watching this thread, please feel free to step in.

Also before you put this live I would try and sort out some issues with the error page: http://www.geluk-bv.com/error

$nav .= '<li><img src="wp-content/themes/FancyTheme/thumb.php?src='. get_post_meta($post->ID, "thumb", $single = true) .'&amp;h='. get_option('fancytheme_h1_thumb_height') .'&amp;w='. get_option('fancytheme_h1_thumb_width') .'&amp;zc=1&amp;q=80" alt="'. $post->post_title .'" /></li>';
Yeah I think your right, try replacing the above line with:
$nav .= '<li><img src="/wp-content/themes/FancyTheme/thumb.php?src='. get_post_meta($post->ID, "thumb", $single = true) .'&amp;h='. get_option('fancytheme_h1_thumb_height') .'&amp;w='. get_option('fancytheme_h1_thumb_width') .'&amp;zc=1&amp;q=80" alt="'. $post->post_title .'" /></li>';

Actually, there should be a pretty easy fix for your hover problem. I’d add this to your CSS : #nav li ul { display: none; }

What exactly do you need help with? It looks like you’ve figured out the image problem.

There is a bit of a problem with the Navigation, but you may have it under control. Your site looks like this on my browser (Google Chrome): Preview

I was going to suggest this, but if the user doesn’t have js enabled they can then not access the menu items. I’m not sure what the targets users will be using to browse.
If there is a possibility that they won’t have js turned on then I think showing the menu items until the js has loaded is a small price to pay.

But if there is little/no chance your users will have js turned off then @Wex’s suggestion will be suitable.
