I’ve been doing some promoting on my own and wanted to share some ideas I’ve been using. Keep in mind that when you promote ThemeForest, you’re promoting yourself, so it’s really worth spending some time to do this.
First, grab your ThemeForest referral code by going here
Then, decide where you want to promote. Your blog, your portfolio site, anywhere really.
Pick a few banners or just use text, and link back to your ThemeForest portfolio. The best part is, you not only get a referral link (which can turn into cash by itself) but by linking them right to your portfolio page with your referral snippet attached to the end of the URL :
http://themeforest.net/user/username(?)ref=username
(Don’t include the parenthesis, it wouldn’t let me display the question mark for some reason)
They will be more inclined to then purchase your templates. Double $$!
I’m sure some of you are already doing this, but I wanted to get it out there for those that haven’t done it this way yet.
The more we promote the site, the more referrals/purchases we can generate. Let’s get to work!

its a great thing to do…
Well, I was thinking about referrals for a while, but I got one question. If visitor clicks any link, ref is going out from the address bar. So does TF remembers his IP or something?

It sets a cookie and TF will know where they came from, even if they come back in a week. If they delete their cookies, then no.
Also, if they click your referral link first, and then click someone else’s, TF will remember that you were the first one and give you the credit.
OK, now I understand
amazing system
Well I’ve just signed up, I got circa 35,000 uniques on my site last week so hopefully I’ll be sending a few your way fingers crossed.
I really should start with promoting

Just an update on my referral promotion, I’ve got almost 300 clickthroughs, 4 registered members, and 2 that actually deposited something. So it really works!
