Hi there,

I recently purchased the Etiquette theme using a budget to help a friend launch her company’s website as a fashion designer. I’m using GoDaddy as my host, and I have the most recent Wordpress platform (version 3.3.1) running Wordpress (gabriellaarango.com/site) through a folder on the website.

I purchased the theme but was not able to install the theme until recently, when I got everything set up with the hosting and what not. I installed it the way I install the themes I buy here, and all was well – until I noticed that I couldn’t post a slide, a portfolio item or a blog post. When I try to click the button on the dashboard to add a post, it gives me an error message (see screenshot: http://www.marcusmillsproductions.com/internalservererror.png )

I am getting pressure from my friend, who has a couple events coming up and is getting worried. It has been making me frustrated, so I tried to contact the developer, but he has given me limited feedback and takes a while to respond (which is fine, I’m sure everyone is busy)

I have called GoDaddy, and they have assured me that everything is fine on that end – and I have even used another theme on the site and when I do, the posts and adding new items are fine with other themes. I have even tried re-downloading the theme and using it on other websites I own. I feel like something is wrong with the theme and I feel like I am getting limited feedback on the support. :/

Is there anything out of place that perhaps someone could help me out with here? I would really appreciate it and am willing to go through any kind of length to just figure this out because my friend really likes the layout.

Thanks!

- Marcus

Perhaps this is the issue? http://www.vijayjoshi.org/2011/01/13/wordpress-internal-server-error-500-in-wp-admin/

I’m not sure if you can increase your memory limit on GoDaddy shared hosting, though.

You can try adding it to your wp-config.php, not sure if they block that

@ini_set(“memory_limit”,’64M’);

Good luck! :)

I added the text and created a new file and added it to the wp-admin folder like the link said, and I also added the text to wp-config.php – nothing happened.

Do you think I should give GoDaddy another round?

I really appreciate your response and your kindness.

Most likely they won’t let you override the memory limit directive in the wp-config.php

I’d try this:

in wp-config.php, set WP_DEBUG to TRUE (it’s likely currently set to FALSE ). Then try to save a post and see if an error is printed.

(a) If you get an error, and it’s a memory limit error, share it with GoDaddy and see if they’ll up your memory limit. They may tell you you need to pay for more expensive hosting. (in this case, take it as an opportunity to run away from GoDaddy. I would not recommend their hosting).

(b) If it’s not a memory error, post it back here and maybe we can make sense of it.

(c) If you get no PHP error printed out (other than the 500 Server error you’ve been getting), I’d contact GoDaddy and ask them to look at the server logs to see what’s going wrong. Then you’ll likely see the memory limit issue, and you’re back to (a)

Hope that gets you somewhere!

I received an error that says this:

Notice: has_cap was called with an argument that is deprecated since version 2.0! Usage of user levels by plugins and themes is deprecated. Use roles and capabilities instead. in /home/content/12/8886712/html/site/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3551

It looks like this:

That’s just a warning. It should be fixed, but isn’t breaking anything.

What’s the error at the top that’s hidden by the admin bar?
