Hi I have decided to start adding videos to my website, but need some help.
I am looking at buying a video camera, it is to film short property videos for the web, what is the best dv, built in dvd, memory stick?
What software is good for editing?
Once I have my file what should I save it in? I would like to use one of the flashden files, to use on my website.
Any good links to using videos on the web appreciated.
Sorry if I have asked many questions.
a quality ccd chip in camera + lenses are a premise for a good camera. avoid any compression to dvd (since is mpeg-2 or any other propertary codec) or stick (mp4 or any other) for best quality over price you should use miniDV. canon xl series and up. HD cams: sony is very good. for best quality overall you can use betamax or RED cameras if you have money to spend
editing software depends on your skillset and what you need. premiere or vegas can do whatever simple edits which you can later export to a propriate web format (mp4 or any other widespread/supported modern codec)
Footage in DV/HD will take a lot of space on your HDD so be prepared to have a HDD spare to put it there. for best usability and lower latencies of the video system overall i suggest you to put them on scasi or sata raid.
as for the web. . . the better picture quality you have at the source the better you can encode it.
hope i cleared something.. for the rest google.
for mac os x you can use the one and only Final Cut….. the rest is history… until you get to composits and renders…but that is another question
