Hi guys,

I just bought a new domain name at namecheap.com. now after I buy it I want it be directed to a wordpress installation I have on a specific directory on my hosting at justhost.com.

so my domain is cssvibe.com and I want it to direct to http://bluzgraphics.com/insight/

how to I link my new domain with the directory and I want the domain name to be update of course according to the page I’m viewing on my wordpress installation. So let’s say I’m watching the page http://bluzgraphics.com/insight/about/ then I want that cssvibe.com/about will link to http://bluzgraphics.com/insight/about/

Sorry for all the questions I’m just very new to the domain registration world.

Does your host have cPanel? Point cssvibe.com to your host’s nameservers. Then in cPanel, add cssvibe.com as an addon domain, and set its default folder to /insight.

That’s one way to do it. I believe this could also be accomplished using htaccess.

What @Pandemic said would work fine, but search engines might penalise you for having duplicated content, by using htaccess you can redirect the user so there is still only one copy on the web.

If you put the following into a .htaccess file and save this in the root of cssvibe.com

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^cssvibe\.com
RewriteRule (.*) http://bluzgraphics.com/insight/$1 [R=Permanent,L]

It should work as you want.

Thank Pandemic but I don’t want to be penalised by search engines.

Joelvardy, Do I need to edit the htaccess on /insight or on cssvibe.net? because I don’t think I have access to the .htaccess file on cssvibe.

this is my dashboard at namecheap: DASHBOARD What should I do?

Ok let me explain what I did so far -

I transfferd the domain to my justhost name servers.

Then I went to my cpanel at justhost and click on “Parked Doamins” after doing so I created a parked domain called cssvibe.net and directed it to this address http://wpthemes.bluzgraphics.com/Robust/ – which is just a demo of one of my wordpress themes.

But now when I write cssvibe.net nothing happens – i get a broken page

HERE IS A SCREENSHOT of the parked domain on justhost cpanel

What am I doing wrong?

Ok now it redirects to http://wpthemes.bluzgraphics.com/Robust/

but it doesn’t keep the domain in the address bar on my browser…
